What is Myotherapy
Myotherapy is a part of the allied health network that is primarily focused on using manual therapy to assist patients with pain, dysfunction as well as addressing biomechanical problems that cause pain and stiffness. Myotherapy is classified as holistic health meaning that instead of focusing primarily on the symptoms we try to focus on the cause of the pain and as well as assist the body out of pain and address the root cause of the problem to prevent future issues and re occurrences. Myotherapy takes a biopsychosocial aspect to healthcare meaning that we seek to address and educate patients on factors that may cause pain outside of just physical damage but looking at aspects such as stress and social factors. Myotherapy treatments can assist in the assessment, treatment, and prevention of injuries and pain and the ongoing management of chronic musculoskeletal and persistent pain conditions.

Our Difference
At Elevate Physiotherapy and Pilates, the Myotherapy model goes above and beyond for our clients and the care doesn’t stop in the treatment room. We provide clients with a take-home plan tailored to their clinical needs for sustained improvement. Our facilities allow for the sessions to integrate into our large exercise and Pilates gym. Our appointment balance delivers the perfect mix of hands-on, strengthening, movement, and education.
Myotherapists specifically address pain or tension in your body through the treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue. Sports injuries and accidents can cause these areas of your body to become damaged or sore. Myotherapists utilise many similar treatment techniques to a Remedial Massage Therapist, such as deep tissue manipulation, myofascial tensioning, dry needling and heat to targeted areas, which helps your body return to optimal health. These tactics are very effective at loosening stiff joints and muscles to increase the loading capacity of your tissues & prevent future injuries from occurring.
