Clinical Pilates, Pilates Physio

Our semi-private clinical exercise classes run for 40 minutes, with up to four class members per class. The classes are run by our highly trained physiotherapists who will create an individualised exercise program based on your problem and personal goals. This will allow us to make your classes challenging, but also very safe.

Our physiotherapist will be supervising the class, and modifying and progressing the exercises depending on how you’re feeling on the day. The exercises you will be completing will be based on your preferences, but will incorporate reformer Pilates, as well as strength conditioning with our fully equipped gym.

How do I know if Clinical Exercise/Pilates would be beneficial for me?

Exercise has such an important role in a wide range of conditions, and is often the most important aspect of one’s rehabilitation. For example, to reduce the severity and frequency of headaches and migraines there is great evidence for not only neck strengthening, but also strengthening of the shoulders and back. To determine whether Clinical Exercise would be beneficial, your physiotherapist during your initial consultation will highlight the exact benefits of completing a structured and supervised clinical exercise class.

How do I get started?

For the physio to create a tailored program that addresses what you want to get out of the classes, you will need to first see the physio for a 40 minute assessment. We then have you come in twice for 1:1 sessions with your physio in the gym to test out the program and make sure you feel confident, comfortable and safe on the equipment. You don’t need to know the exercises perfectly, that’s what the classes are for!

What do I bring?

We supply all the equipment, including mats for your clinical exercise session. We do recommend bringing a small towel and drink bottle. Pigeon holes for storage of your belongings are available in the gym. You will need to bring along non-slip socks to each class.

What do I wear to Clinical Exercise/Pilates?

Wear comfortable and stretchy clothing that you don’t mind exercising in! Socks with grip are required when exercising in the gym. You can also buy a pair of grippy socks from our friendly receptionists at the clinic.

What to expect from our classes?

After completing an individualised assessment of your problem and identifying parts of the body that need improvement, our physiotherapists will create an individualised exercise program that addresses those areas. The physiotherapist running your class will be hovering between class members to assist in setting up exercises, critiquing and modifying form, and progressing/regressing exercises as required!
